I feel like i’m achieving my annotation goals in some ways more than others. I do feel like I am taking my time too read so that I can really understand the essay
- Surrounding Context: The essay was first published in January 2014on the world post, by Yo Yo Ma. He is a cellist and songwriter, who also won many awards. All this information was mentioned in his bio.
- Circumstantial Context: Circumstance was that I was assigned to read Yo Yo Ma’s essay for class. If I was not assigned the essay to read I don’t think it would be something I read on my own, although after reading it I found it interesting.
- Intentional Context: Making sure that the arts is being connected to the sciences, as the would changes, us as human begins being ready to change too.
- Unfamiliar Words/ references: STEM: science, technology, engineering and math- never heard this reference before nor do I think that education if much focused on reference. Bandwidth: a range of frequencies within a given band, in particular that used for transmitting a signal. Lemming: a small, short-tailed, thickset rodent related to the voles, found in the Arctic tundra.
