Stakes:

  1. How metaphors affect our health and wellbeing
  2. How much power to metaphor writers have
  1. The conversation at hand is what role do metaphors play in our overall well being and how are they affecting us? The patients are who these metaphors apply to.
  2. The scope of my paper is to identify how metaphors affect the wellbeing of patients, and people in general. This paper should matter to writers of metaphors and the doctors that are saying them.
  3. My intent for this paper is to show the role of metaphors and how they play a large role in someone’s health, particularly patients.

Patients all over the world are suffering from diseases, sickness, cancer and many more things, who is it to say and or tell them how they should be going about coping with it? Metaphors are playing a large role in health and are or can affect how people see themselves. In the work of James Geary, Michael Erard and Dhruv Khullar I have identified the roles in which metaphor’s play in health.

  1. This is a great start to an introduction! A great outline for the future paragraph.
    1) I like the last paragraph for a hook or an intro into your part of the conversation. It begins a question, prompts the reader to keep going so good job on that! That could be your topic sentence for when you write the introduction paragraph!
    2) You added a list of your intent and topics of your future paper which was great, once it is written into the actual introduction paragraph I think it will sound great!
    3) It is clear you are writing about how metaphors are affecting people in general and who uses or creates them! That sounds like a very interesting argument.
    4) You describe your intent for the paper, but not the reason. Why are you writing this paper? What is the point and why argue it?
    5) Your thesis is that metaphors play a large role in health or affecting people. I agree with this & I think it should lead to a great paper.

Overall, I am interested to see what you do with this outline. It would be slightly easier to understand if it was written out in full paragraph form! The paragraph at the bottom of it was a great start to a paragraph, you just need to add your intentions and your reasoning for writing the paper into the bottom paragraph and you should be all set! I really enjoyed it and I think you’re a great writer!
