When rereading it the second time and having the discussion we had during class help to understand the reading more. The first time I read it there was just so much information that it was at sometimes hard to follow along where as reading it the second time I already had some of the information in my head. There were something that I am still uncertain about but for the most part I understood a lot more. For example, the first time I read it I was confused about the idea of furniture but after I reread it I got the impression that the furniture are helpful words to help guide the understanding of the metaphor. When he was talking about how “English is a Bottle neck” he gave another version “English is like a bottle neck” and that’s where I connected “like” to being a piece of furniture that helps us understand the metaphor better. Also when he was talking about the metaphors about the children and relating them to either a dandelion or an orchids, I didn’t understand that either the first time I read it where as when I reread it I thought of it as so critical and that was a good example of how you should know your audience because someone people can react to that so negatively. The major thing I still don’t understand is the whole pseudo-mistake thing and how to use that when designing a metaphor. Even when looking up the definition I still don’t get it. Overall rereading it help a lot to really breakdown what he was saying about metaphors.

    I have never thought about the “like” being the furniture, I never really understood that part of the text but now I do! Also, I do agree with the understanding of the pseudo-mistake, I don’t really understand it either.
